Making Sure the Industrial Floor Works for You
Info
When owners consider flooring types, contractors should offer them the properties that the flooring system is supposed to deliver.
They always ask, "why has my floor failed?"
For a new floor to deliver the expected results, should you consider it failing only when it's literally falling apart, or is it legitimate to hold it to a higher standard?
In my mind, if the owner cannot easily keep it clean, safe, and in service, then it is not performing as warranted.
It is necessary to analyze which attributes are non-negotiable for your purpose and then make an educated proposal. Especially take note if you are installing in markets where health and hygiene are paramount, such as healthcare, baking, and food and seafood processing; or a quick turn around is imperative, such as manufacturing or automotive.
When health and hygiene are the focus, along with strength and longevity, it is time to look at different options than straight concrete, chemically densifed or not. Polished concrete is not discussed in this article because, although very hard and capable of being very repellent, it is not impervious to penetration by liquids.
