Dundee defers expensive slab replacement

Dundee loves Acrylicon for outdoor applications. When nothing else works, they use Acrylicon Industrial Flooring. Weather in Calgary can be 35 C in summer, and -35 C in winter. We can drop 25 C in a 24 hour period. A water-proofing project produced a beautiful floor.

The 25 year old slab at Joffre Place, Calgary, needed to be replaced and a new membrane was being planned to be installed under the slab. Dundee Realty Corp then wanted to put Acrylicon on top of a new, replacement slab. Acrylicon Alberta proposed repairing / flattening the existing slab, and then coating the repaired surface with Acrylicon Decor.

The late John Wimbush, VP Construction, Dundee Realty Corp, supported the idea. Del Kobelsky carried the project through to completion.

Each 5' by 5' slab in front of the main entranceway had to be flattened, repaired, and "glued" together with Acrylicon repair material FR368. The slab was then coated with Acrylicon Decor system with a heavy anti-slip surface.

Acrylicon EJ10 was then used to caulk all wall to floor, floor to sidewalk joints.

Not only do they have a water-proofed slab, but they also have a beautiful floor that deferred a $170k Cdn net capital investment by at least 5 to 10 years.
