When Wm. Morrison Supermarkets Plc decided to refurbish their store in the centre of Leeds, a new floor was paramount in updating the image.

This busy store, situated within the Merrion Shopping Centre in the heart of Leeds, had to stay operational. Fast cure resin flooring was seen to be the answer. With many companies selling MMA (Acrylic) flooring, Morrison’s took the time to find out the differences between them.

After showing them a nice looking, easy to clean floor that is now 11 years old they requested a test patch in the busy goods-in area. The Acrylicon test patch was laid next to examples from our competitors, and after only a matter of weeks, the Granito Flake System stood out as having a more aesthetically pleasing finish and better wear resistance. Having proved our claims, Acrylicon was chosen.

The brief was tricky; relay the entire shop floor (over 30,000 square feet) in sections over night, whilst keeping the store open during the day.

Acrylicon Granito Flake System was specified, due to its attractive yet robust finish, and the colour blend was matched to Morrison’s corporate Terrazzo. We had just 6 hours each night, yet managed to hand over a new section of floor each morning. Fitting into a tightly woven schedule meant we often had to work with other trades and staff nearby.

The project was completed in November 2007. Easy to clean, bright and attractive and with excellent resistance to wear, Acrylicon will keep these properties for many years to come. Our Client base also includes ASDA, Sainsbury’s and Supervalu.
