The American Institute of Architects (AIA) has approved the course, “Industrial Flooring: The Generic Resins and Their Real Life Performances,” as part of its Continuing Education System (CES). AcryliCon USA LLC is proud to be a part of such a prestigious organization and is a Passport Provider for this course which allows face-to-face and distance learning courses both nationally and internationally.
The AIA requires that registered architect members earn 18 Learning Unit (LUs) hours of continuing education annually (eight hours of which must be related to Health, Safety, and Welfare topics and four of those eight in Sustainable Design) to remain in good standing. The AcryliCon certified course will provide one (1) credit towards the Sustainable Design requirement.
The learning objectives in the 1-hour course include:
- How to specify or purchase industrial flooring: The participant will learn what criteria are important, and what questions to ask, when specifying a resinous industrial floor.
- How to evaluate when a floor has failed: Through questions and analysis of flooring failures the participant will learn how to identify key features of industrial flooring.
- Types of resins and their physical characteristics: The participant will receive knowledge about the two sub-sets of resinous floors, and how these two varying chemical constructions will affect their ability to control bacterial growth and hygiene of the floor.
- The performance characteristics of these resins: A matrix that provides a look at the various generic resins will be the basis for the participant to be exposed to performance and health issues of resinous floors, especially in wet environments.
- Regulations for industrial flooring, especially in Food Safety: Exposure to FDA and USDA regulations and their effect on specifying the proper flooring.
- Environmental impact of resins: Learn which of these resins assists in sustainable design and how they contribute to the longevity of a building.
- Ten Year Life Cycle Costing Analysis: Receive a matrix with third party verification of Life Cycle Costs that will help participants to understand the true costs of specifying a particular resinous floor.
